More than 30 years passed since the beginning of the educational informatics program, initiated by A.P. Ershov. Since then, the area has broadened substantially and now covers not only topics related to school and high school informatics, but also those concerning the structure and methods of teaching informatics. As experience shows, informatics is not only a training in program writing, but is an essncial part of personality development. Contributions to the Section address recent advances and current trends in educational informatics. The issues of informatics history are traditionally regarded from the points of view of both professionals and faculty. Much attention is given to the problem of professional training in information technology and programming; different approaches and components of educational process in IT disciplines are considered. Widely represented is the subject of distance learning and knowledge testing in informatics. Paper contributions cover various approaches and constituents of this approach, net-facilitated methods and solutions. The Section offers a forum to discuss the principles and organization of competitions and contests in programming. Also addressed are the issues of informatics teachers training and IT-oriented teaching strategies. A number of contributed short talks address popular trends in teaching such as on-line manuals and interactive blackboards. The contributed papers address psycological and social aspects of teaching informatics, analysis of experience gained in the process of teaching informatics to different student categories, and teaching methods for particular subjects. Among other topics are programming paradigms by the example of programming languages evolution, key education-wise aspects of the notions of information, information processes and activities, informatics for challenged people, ontology of informatics teaching. Apart from regular talks and short talks, two roundtable discussions are scheduled. The first one is dedicated to educational informatics, the methods and matter of informatics teaching. The topic of the second round table is the effect of studying informatics on world-outlook formation. Topics of the SectionEducational Informatics Section addresses the following topics:

ApplicationsTo apply for participation, the authors should submit short abstracts in English, and provide their details including their name, position held, name of organization, phone number, mailing address, and e-mail address. SubmissionsPaper submissions must contain original contributions that have not been published or submitted to other conferences/journals in parallel with this conference. The papers are to be submitted electronically as Word documents, and to be no longer than 8 pages of text and illustrations in A4 format, typed 1.5-spaced in 14-point Times New Roman.
