Location

The conference will be held in Akademgorodok (Academy town), 30 km to the South of Novosibirsk, the largest city of Siberia. Akademgorodok is a small isolated district of Novosibirsk located in a picturesque place near the Ob lake, surrounded by taiga and primeval pine forests, which make it a great place both for work and for recreation. Its serenity and beautiful nature arouse creativity and aid fruitful research work.

Traveling to Novosibirsk

You can fly to Novosibirsk easily and safely via Moscow by Aeroflot, Transaero or S7 (former Siberia Airlines). Direct S7 flights will bring you from Frankfurt, Hanover, Tel-Aviv or Beijing to Novosibirsk and back. There are four direct daily flights from Moscow.

Commuting

Upon your arrival to Novosibirsk you are most likely to be met by an organizing committee member with a PSI`06 badge and poster. In this case you are expected to come up to this person and introduce yourself. If you have any difficulties with transfer from the airport please call 8 913 928 20 05 (Pavel Emelianov, mobile). If by some reason the organizing committee is unable to send someone to meet you, there are several options you should keep in mind:

1. bus. Take bus 808 which will take you directly to the "Zolotaya Dolina" hotel. The bus stop for route 808 is located across the airport parking lot in front of the domestic flights terminal. The road takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes. The bus leaves the airport at
06-20, 07-20, 08-20, 09-20, 10-20, 11-20, 12-20, 13-20, 14-20, 15-20, 16-20, 17-20, 18-20, 19-20, 20-20, 21-20, and 22-20.

The ticket costs approximately 50 rubles.

2. taxi. NEVER IN ANY CASE take a random taxi in the airport and refuse all offers! If you use S7 airlines, you can order a taxi right from the plane shortly before landing (ask a stewardess to place an order). If you’re looking for a taxi in the airport, use only the authorized taxi companies – we can recommend the Grand-Auto company. Their dispatcher booth is located between the luggage handout and the parking lot. The price (Tolmachevo airport to Akademgorodok) is fixed at 550 rubles. Don’t overpay the driver!

Registration and organizational issues

When in the hotel, you should introduce yourself as a participant of the PSI`06 conference held by the Institute of Informatics Systems.

Conference Schedule

The PSI`06 conference will take place in the Small Hall of the SB RAS House of Scientists, July 26-30. The work starts at 10 AM on July 26, and at 9:30 AM on July, 27.

Weather and nature

The weather in Novosibirsk in the end of June is generally warm and sunny, with daytime temperatures in the range of 25-30 C. Akademgorodok is flanked by a large sand beach – the place for suntan, volleyball and swimming (night swimming in the Ob lake is guaranteed!). Forests and parks are great for hiking and jogging. Mosquitoes are a minor nuisance; Ixodidae ticks, however, although few, pose a considerable danger of rickettsial fevers and viral encephalitis – be careful during forest walks and check your clothes thoroughly afterwards. If bitten by a tick, do not remove it, and tell an organizing committee member immediately! You can find a life-sized image of a tick in your participant’s map.
